Plexus announces Collaborative Modelling Workshops for capturing interactions and dependencies in complex projects

 25th October 2011

Plexus Planning, supplier of world-leading planning software and services for large & complex projects, has announced the addition of Collaborative Modelling Workshops as a core part of the implementation of Plexus in large, complex projects.

Plexus is a complexity management tool that uses network collaboration to bring together all relevant project data, enabling complete visualisation of product development processes and whole supply chains, with interactions both at a high level and with drill down.

The key to a successful project is to ensure that the complete knowledge base relating to project elements, interactions and dependencies is captured and recorded within Plexus.  Plexus has announced a formalised Workshop procedure in order to bring together, at the outset, everyone with an input or influence on the project, and to record all project activities, teams, interactions, data flows and dependencies.

The workshops bring together large numbers of subject matter experts, each with their own specific frame of reference or segment of knowledge.  Participants cover all aspects of the project from satisfying the requirements specification (function, performance, schedule, cost, risk), to design, product integration & development.  The workshops allow participants, who would not normally interact, to understand the dependencies that exist between them, that are often missed, and thus reduce project costs and risk.

Ian Poccachard, Chief Executive of Plexus Planning, said, “These workshops are the best way to embed Plexus into an organization for an initial deployment since it generates momentum and delivers on the job training to participants even as they do real-work. The workshops produce better founded networks for project planning or other purposes depending on the application, and improved control of complex projects.”
