Plexus teams with TechModal to offer improvements to military logistics and repair operations

Plexus Planning, supplier of world-leading planning software and services for large & complex projects, has announced that it is partnering with TechModal to offer the Plexus solution into wider markets such as military logistics and repair operations.

Based on the strength of  Plexus’ extensive track record in aerospace and defence engineering projects and supply chains, TechModal is working to offer this unique capability for large scale logistics operations, where supply chains are changing or under strain, and where repair scheduling and cost of spares availability are issues.

Throughout the world defence supply chains are under pressure, especially with changes to operations in Afghanistan and other regions.  When coupled with defence spending cuts, this leads to requirements to realise efficiency savings, and cost reductions. Plexus can enable users to map-out their extensive global supply chains, then visualise and rationalise this to achieve substantial savings.

There are many other areas where Plexus may help with military logistics, for example vehicle repairs.  Plexus can be used to map out and understand the repair activity sequences undertaken by the repair engineers, and identify opportunities to streamline, so as to increase vehicle throughput, and identify how to optimise the availability of spares line-side for the repair engineers.

Making spares available on the front line is another area where Plexus can provide benefits.  It can produce an end-to-end picture of the  logistics network from factory to fox-hole and minimise the cost of making spares available at the front line by mapping out which route different types of spares take to the front line. This can reduce the amount of air freight compared to surface freight.
